Industrial production index increased by 0.8% in August 2025

The industrial production index reached 91.1 units in August 2025, up 0.8% from August 2024, with a 2.8% increase for January–August 2025 compared to the previous year.

The Industrial Production Index for August 2025 was 91.1 units (base 2021=100), representing an increase of 0.8% compared to August 2024. For the period January–August 2025, the index increased by 2.8% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The manufacturing sector registered a 1.7% increase compared to August 2024. Water supply and materials recovery increased by 3.3%. Conversely, mining and quarrying decreased by 2.8%, and electricity supply decreased by 2.6%.

Significant positive changes in manufacturing compared to August 2024 were observed in basic metals and fabricated metal products (+11.8%), wood and products of wood and cork (except furniture) (+8.6%), and other non-metallic mineral products (+4.8%). Negative changes were seen in textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-11.1%) and paper and paper products and printing (-10.5%).

Between January and August 2025, the most notable increases were in other non-metallic mineral products (+8.4%), water collection, treatment, and supply (+7.8%), wood and products of wood and cork (except furniture) (+7.7%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (+6.9%), rubber and plastic products (+6.4%), and furniture, other manufacturing, and machinery repair (+6.3%). The largest decreases compared to the same period in 2024 were in paper and paper products and printing (-13.3%), textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-5.8%), and electricity supply (-2.7%).

Data collection is conducted via telephone and email by the Statistical Service, covering enterprises with production value over 2 million euros or with 20 or more employees. The index uses 2021 as the base year, with a value of 100.0, and reflects monthly changes relative to the 2021 average. The index is compiled as a weighted average based on the value added of each subsector, following EU regulations. More information is available on the CYSTAT portal and database.
