Industrial turnover index decreases by 3.4% in August 2025

The industrial turnover index fell by 3.4% in August 2025 compared to August 2024, while the January–August period showed a 4.0% increase. Manufacturing and mining sectors experienced growth, with declines in electricity and water supply.

The Industrial Turnover Index for August 2025 reached 115.2 units (base 2021=100), representing a decrease of 3.4% compared to August 2024. For the period January–August 2025, the index increased by 4.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In manufacturing, the index was 105.0 units, up 1.2% from August 2024. The mining and quarrying sector increased by 2.1%. Decreases were observed in electricity supply (-15.7%) and water supply and materials recovery (-1.3%).

Detailed data includes sector-specific indices and percentage changes, with manufacturing showing varied performance across subsectors such as food products (+14%), textiles (-18%), and machinery (+29%).

The index reflects monthly changes in turnover across sectors B, C, D, and E of NACE Rev. 2, excluding sewerage and waste activities. Data collection is conducted via surveys from enterprises with turnover over 2 million euros or 20+ employees, supplemented by administrative sources for certain sectors.

The index uses 2021 as the base year, with an average of 100.0 for that year. It is compiled according to EU regulation 2019/2152 and transmitted monthly to Eurostat. More information is available on the CYSTAT portal and related resources.
