The Minister of Finance of Cyprus, Mr. Makis Keravnos, inaugurated a new hangar for Bird Aviation, highlighting its investment and contribution to the country’s aviation sector and economic development.
The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Makis Keravnos, attended the inauguration of Bird Aviation’s new hangar. This investment exceeds 2.5 million euros and demonstrates investor confidence in Cyprus’s prospects.
Bird Aviation is a Cypriot company operating in aircraft repair and maintenance at the old Larnaka International Airport for the past ten years. Since establishing its hangar in 2016, the company has invested significantly in modernising the Cyprus Airways Base to support specialized operations.
The company now employs over 250 staff, mostly Cypriots, serving major European and regional airlines. The investment aligns with the government’s efforts to promote foreign direct investment, innovation, and economic growth.
The Minister emphasized that economic development relies on both government policy and private initiative. Foreign investments foster development, create jobs, transfer know-how, and enhance competitiveness.
Bird Aviation’s expansion supports Cyprus’s vision to establish itself as a Regional Aviation Hub and contributes to the tourism sector and overall connectivity. The government welcomes this investment and recognizes its role in boosting the Cypriot economy’s competitiveness.
In closing, the Minister congratulated Bird Aviation on its growth and success in the region and wished continued success.
