Motor vehicle registrations increase by 4.5% in January–November 2025

The Statistical Service reports a 4.5% rise in total motor vehicle registrations in Cyprus from January to November 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, with notable increases in passenger cars and goods vehicles.

The Statistical Service announced the publication of the report titled “Registration of Motor Vehicles” for the period January–November 2025.

In November 2025, total motor vehicle registrations numbered 4,172, an increase of 8.4% compared to 3,850 in November 2024. Passenger saloon cars registered 3,195, up 9.4% from 2,920 in November 2024.

Between January and November 2025, total registrations increased by 4.5% to 48,904 from 46,780 in the same period of 2024. Passenger saloon cars rose to 37,977 from 36,360, a 4.4% increase, with 36.7% being new cars and 63.3% used. Rental cars increased by 22.4% to 5,052.

The market share of petrol-powered passenger cars decreased to 42.3% from 48.9%, while diesel-powered cars decreased to 8.8% from 10.1%. Electric cars increased from 4.0% to 4.7%, and hybrid cars from 36.9% to 44.3%.

Motor coaches and buses increased to 172 from 127. Registrations of goods conveyance vehicles increased by 6.3% to 5,694, including rental vehicles (+23.2%), light goods vehicles (+6.1%), heavy goods vehicles (+2.7%), and road tractors (+2.7%).

Mopeds under 50cc decreased to 197 from 657, while mechanised cycles over 50cc increased by 16.6% to 4,264.

Details of registration changes by category and type are included in the report, which is published monthly and available online. Data collection is conducted by the Statistical Service based on records from the Department of Road Transport.
