Results of the 2025 survey on ICT usage in households and individuals

The 2025 survey reports high internet usage among individuals, with detailed data on online activities, e-government, and e-commerce trends in Cyprus during the first quarter of 2025.

The Statistical Service of Cyprus conducted a survey during April–June 2025, covering 1,718 households and 3,275 individuals aged 16–74. The survey collected data on access to information and communication technologies, internet use, e-government, e-commerce, e-skills, and data privacy.

According to the results, over 93.6% of individuals aged 16–74 used the internet at least once a week in the first quarter of 2025. Internet use decreases with age, from 98.5% in the 16–24 age group to 81.5% in the 55–74 age group. Those with higher educational levels used the internet more frequently (98.9%) than those with lower levels (75.9%).

The most common internet activities during the first quarter of 2025 were making calls over the internet (96.4%), instant messaging (96.2%), participation in social networks (92.3%), reading online news (91.1%), and searching for information about goods or services (88.2%).

Regarding online learning, 20.5% of internet users accessed online learning materials other than complete courses, 17.8% took online courses, and 17.8% communicated with educators or learners via audio or video tools.

During April 2024–March 2025, 62.7% of individuals aged 16–74 obtained information from public authorities online, 52.0% accessed information stored about them by public authorities, and 31.9% used public databases or registers.

In e-commerce, 62.0% of individuals ordered goods or services online in the first quarter of 2025, a slight decrease from 63.6% in 2024. The most popular categories were streaming services (43.5%), music streaming (18.3%), gaming streaming (9.5%), and health or fitness apps (7.5%).

Among those who purchased goods or services online, 58.6% bought tickets to events, 53.2% booked accommodation, and 50.3% purchased transport services.

The survey methodology involved sampling based on the 2021 Population Census, with data collected through personal interviews. The reference period was the first quarter of 2025.
