The turnover value increased by 5.8% and volume by 8.9% in December 2025 compared to the previous year. For the full year, value increased by 6.1% and volume by 7.9%.
The Turnover Index of Retail Trade, except of Motor Vehicles, for December 2025 shows a 5.8% increase in turnover value compared to December 2024 (Table 1). The turnover volume increased by 8.9% in the same period (Table 2).
For the period January–December 2025, the value index increased by 6.1%, and the volume index increased by 7.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
The index covers activities in division 47 of the EU’s NACE Rev. 2 classification. Turnover includes total invoiced amounts, excluding VAT but including other taxes and duties.
Data is collected monthly via telephone or email and is based on 2021 as the base year (index=100). The value index is calculated at current prices, and the volume index is deflated using the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The index is a weighted average of various retail activities, with weights derived from the 2021 wholesale and retail trade survey. The index is transmitted monthly to Eurostat and published in gross form at the national level.
