Tourist arrivals and residents’ returns of Cyprus in January 2026

In January 2026, tourist arrivals increased by 8.5% to 121,625, while residents returning from abroad rose by 15.0% to 170,045. Main sources were Poland, Israel, and the UK.

In January 2026, the number of tourist arrivals to Cyprus reached 121,625, representing an increase of 8.5% compared to January 2025, which had 112,100 arrivals. The main source countries were Poland (18.6%), Israel (18.1%), the United Kingdom (15.8%), Greece (9.6%), and Germany (6.2%).

Tourists traveled mainly for holidays (60.7%), visiting friends and relatives (22.8%), and business purposes (16.2%).

Residents of Cyprus returning from abroad totaled 170,045 in January 2026, a 15.0% increase from 147,858 in January 2025. The primary countries of return were Greece (27.6%), the UK (8.5%), and Poland (5.8%).

The majority of residents traveled for holidays (82.2%), with 16.3% for business, 0.7% for studies, and 0.7% for other reasons.

Data were collected through passenger surveys at Larnaka and Pafos airports, as well as from administrative sources. The information covers travelers passing through passport control in the government-controlled areas of Cyprus.
