Major category changes compared to January 2025 include increases in Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.8%), Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.8%), and Educational Services (3.4%). The largest negative change was in Clothing and Footwear (-6.2%).
Compared with December 2025, Clothing and Footwear decreased by 12.1%, while Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages increased by 3.7%.
In terms of economic categories, energy decreased by 6.5%, and services increased by 4.3% compared to January 2025. The largest monthly change was in Non-Energy Industrial Goods, which decreased by 3.7% from December 2025.
The HICP is calculated based on prices collected in urban districts of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos, covering 850 goods and services. Prices include taxes such as VAT and excise duties. The weights are based on consumption expenditure data from household surveys and national accounts.
