Industrial production index increased by 3.5% in December 2025

The industrial production index rose by 3.5% in December 2025 compared to December 2024, with an overall increase of 3.6% for January–December 2025, driven mainly by manufacturing sector growth.

In December 2025, the Industrial Production Index reached 113.0 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 3.5% compared to December 2024. For the period January–December 2025, the index increased by 3.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The manufacturing sector registered a growth of 4.6% compared to December 2024. Water supply and materials recovery increased by 3.2%, while electricity supply decreased by 2.4% and mining and quarrying decreased by 1.7%.

Significant positive changes in manufacturing compared to December 2024 included furniture, other manufacturing, and machinery repair (+13.8%), wood and cork products (+11.9%), and machinery, motor vehicles, and transport equipment (+8.1%). Negative changes were observed in non-metallic mineral products (-7.4%) and electronic and optical products, electrical equipment (-2.3%).

For January–December 2025, the most notable increases were in non-metallic mineral products (+10.9%), wood and cork products (+9.1%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (+8.0%), and furniture and machinery (+7.2%). Declines were recorded in paper products and printing (-9.5%), textiles and leather products (-3.8%), and electricity supply (-2.0%).

Data collection is conducted via telephone and email by the Statistical Service, covering enterprises with a production value over 2 million euros or at least 20 employees. The index uses 2021 as the base year, with a value of 100.0, and is compiled according to EU regulations. The index is published in gross form at the national level, with seasonally and working day adjusted data transmitted monthly to Eurostat.
