HICP increased by 1.49% between March 2025 and March 2026

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 1.49% from March 2025 to March 2026, with notable increases in food, recreation, and decreases in clothing and housing categories.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 1.49% between March 2025 and March 2026, and by 1.06% from February to March 2026. The last month’s HICP for the Euro area is based on EUROSTAT’s flash estimate.

Compared to March 2025, the categories with the largest positive changes were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (6.5%) and Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.7%). The largest negative changes were observed in Clothing and Footwear (-5.5%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas, and Other Fuels (-4.0%).

Compared with February 2026, the categories with the largest increases were Clothing and Footwear (4.0%) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (2.7%).

In terms of economic categories, the largest changes compared with March 2025 were in Food-Alcoholic Beverages-Tobacco (5.3%) and Energy (-3.7%). The largest monthly change was in Energy (4.3%).

Details are available in the official publication and tables provided by CYSTAT. The index uses data from urban districts of Lefkosia, Larnaka, Lemesos, and Pafos, with prices collected weekly for seasonal products and monthly for others.

From January 2026, the base year for the index is 2025=100, and the classification adopted is ECOICOP version 2. Further methodological details are available on the CYSTAT website and contact information is provided for inquiries.
