The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2026 increased by 0.93 points, reaching 103.25 units compared to 102.32 in July 2026. The inflation rate for August 2026 stood at 3.5%.
Compared with August 2025, the largest increases were in Petroleum Products (20.3%) and Electricity and Water (6.0%). The largest decrease was in Industrial Goods (-0.4%).
Compared with July 2026, the largest increase was in Petroleum Products (6.9%), and the largest decrease was in Electricity and Water (-1.2%).
Major contributors to the CPI increase compared with August 2025 included Restaurants and Accommodation Services (3.18 units), Recreation, Sports and Culture (2.82 units), and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (1.86 units). Negative contributions were observed in Health (-2.62 units), Information and Communication (-1.67 units), and Clothing and Footwear (-1.07 units).
In the monthly comparison with July 2026, the categories with the largest impact were Transport (0.81 units), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (0.13 units), and Clothing and Footwear (-0.09 units).
The effect analysis shows Fuels and Lubricants contributed positively (0.51 units), while Clothing contributed negatively (-0.10 units) to the CPI change compared with July 2026.
