In May 2026, the number of building permits issued increased by 21.1% compared to the previous year, totaling 735 permits with a value of €428.2 million. From January to May 2026, permits rose by 32.1%.
The Statistical Service announced that in May 2026, 735 building permits were authorized, representing a 21.1% increase compared to May 2025. The total value of these permits reached €428.2 million, covering an area of 352.1 thousand square meters. These permits include construction for 1,847 dwelling units.
During January–May 2026, 3,650 permits were issued, up 32.1% from 2,764 permits in the same period of 2025. The total value increased by 43.9%, and the total area by 43.1%. The number of dwelling units increased by 63.7%.

The data are collected from local authorities and processed through the new electronic system ‘Ippodamos’ since July 2024.
