Construction site and thermal load control inspection campaign in 2026

The Cyprus Department of Labor Inspection, part of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, will conduct a targeted inspection campaign on construction sites during March, June, August, and September 2026.

The campaign emphasizes fall prevention and thermal load control, aiming to enhance safety measures and reduce workplace accidents and occupational diseases in the construction sector.

Inspection focus areas include:

• The existence and implementation of a Written Risk Assessment.
• Preventive measures for working at height.
• Proper use of scaffolding, railings, and restraint systems.
• Measures to address high temperatures, such as adjusting working hours, providing breaks, drinking water, and shading.
• Employee information and training.

Particular attention will be given to compliance with safety and health legislation, including:

• Code of Practice for Heat Stress of Workers, K.A.P. 291/2014, K.D.P. 206/2020, and P.D.A. 231/2023.
• Occupational Safety and Health Regulations for Minimum Standards in Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites, P.D.P. 410/2015.

An annex with control points issued by the Department of Labor Inspection is attached. Construction sector operators are encouraged to perform timely compliance checks and ensure full implementation of safety measures.
