Consumer Price Index rises by 2.8% in April 2026

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.8% in April 2026, reaching 102.80 units, driven by increases in petroleum, agricultural goods, and other categories. Inflation compared to April 2025 is 2.8%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April 2026 increased by 1.73 points, reaching 102.80 units compared to 101.07 units in March 2026. The inflation rate for April 2026 is 2.8%.

Compared with April 2025, the largest increases were recorded in Petroleum Products (18.3%) and Agricultural Goods (9.6%), while the largest decrease was in Electricity and Water (-7.9%).

Compared with March 2026, the largest increase was in Petroleum Products (12.6%).

Categories with the highest positive contributions to the CPI change compared to April 2025 include Restaurants and Accommodation Services (3.11 units), Recreation, Sports and Culture (2.82 units), and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (1.85 units). Negative contributions were observed in Health (-2.61 units), Information and Communication (-1.61 units), and Clothing and Footwear (-1.14 units).

Month-to-month changes from March 2026 to April 2026 were mainly influenced by categories such as Transport (1.23 units), Clothing and Footwear (0.32 units), and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels (0.17 units). The largest positive impact on the CPI compared to March 2026 was from Fuels and Lubricants (0.72 units), while vegetables had the largest negative impact (-0.20 units).

The CPI methodology includes price collection from urban districts of Lefkosia, Lemesos, Larnaka, and Pafos, with weights based on population distribution. The base year for the index is 2025=100, with the reference period being 2015=100.
