Cyprus Minister of Finance and ECOFIN President Mr. Makis Keravnos welcomes the E6 initiative to enhance EU competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy through private capital and savings union development.
Cyprus Minister of Finance and current President of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN), Mr. Makis Keravnos, welcomed the decision of the six Finance Ministers involved in the E6 initiative to strengthen efforts towards enhancing the European Union’s competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy.
The initiative aims to mobilize private capital, advance the Savings and Investments Union, and reduce fragmentation within the EU.
The Minister emphasized that EU strategic autonomy is a key objective of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, which has promoted this goal through intensive efforts over the past five months.
The E6 initiative is seen as a valuable contribution to broader European efforts to develop the Savings and Investments Union, strengthen competitiveness, and enhance EU strategic autonomy, with the aim of creating added value for the EU as a whole, as noted in the E6 statement.
