The Data Point Model Alliance, a collaboration between the European Banking Authority (EBA), European Central Bank (ECB), and European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), has initiated a two-month public consultation on improvements to their DPM metamodel. The consultation aims to enhance the support for statistical and supervisory reporting across the EU.

The new version, DPM 2.1, introduces features such as enhanced metadata versioning and the extension of the metamodel to include logical data models. It aims to facilitate integrated reporting across all financial regulatory frameworks, reduce complexity, improve data quality, and lower reporting costs. The updates also support the alignment of the EBA’s prudential and resolution reporting frameworks with the ESCB’s IReF framework.

Additionally, the Alliance has published naming conventions to promote consistency in metadata across frameworks, supporting the effective use of a common data dictionary.

Responses to the consultation can be submitted via the DPM 2.1 public consultation link. All contributions will be published after the consultation closes unless otherwise requested. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2026.

Background information: The DPM, a structured, machine-readable data dictionary, was developed by the EBA and EIOPA to unify reporting in banking, insurance, and pensions sectors. The latest version, DPM Standard 2.0, was published in June 2023. The DPM Alliance was established in March 2024 to extend DPM to ECB reporting and to jointly govern the standard, with the SRB participating as an observer.
