The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published its 2025 Annual Report, outlining its main achievements and activities in 2025 under its Work Programme. The focus was on streamlining the EU regulatory framework and expanding supervisory responsibilities, particularly under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

Key achievements include:

The 2025 EU-wide stress test confirmed the resilience of banks across the EU and EEA, showing their capacity to maintain capital ratios under severe scenarios.

Significant progress was made in data modernization, including the launch of the Pillar 3 Data Hub and expansion of the European Data Access Portal (EDAP). The EBA also advanced its ESG analytics capabilities with the first ESG Risk Dashboard and preparations for climate stress testing.

Under DORA and MiCA, the EBA assumed new supervisory roles, designated 19 critical ICT third-party providers, and finalized procedures for crypto-asset issuers, strengthening oversight of digital finance markets.

Consumer protection remained a priority, with support for the Instant Payments Regulation, publication of the Consumer Trends Report, and campaigns on crypto-assets and digital finance fraud risks. The EBA also promoted supervisory convergence through peer reviews, training, and cooperation with EU and international partners.

A comprehensive version of the 2025 Annual Report will be published by the end of June 2026, including a full overview of all activities under the Work Programme.
