The EESC’s Employers’ Group visits Cyprus and discusses competitiveness

The Employers’ Group of the European & Economic Committee (EESC), led by Ms. Sandra Parthie, visited Cyprus on May 7-8, 2026, for high-level discussions on competitiveness and autonomy.

The Employers’ Group of the European & Economic Committee (EESC), led by President Ms. Sandra Parthie and comprising about 70 members from all EU countries, conducted a working visit to Cyprus on May 7 and 8, 2026.

During the visit, a high-level discussion on “Autonomy through Competitiveness” was held on May 7, 2026, at the offices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

The event was attended by the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Michalis Damianos; the President of the Economy & Competitiveness Council, Mr. Demetris Georgiades; the Chairman of the Cyprus Fiscal Council, Mr. Michalis Persianis; the former IMF representative in Cyprus, Ms. Maria Heracleous; and Professor Nikos Varsakelis of Aristotle University.

The discussion was introduced by former CCCI President Mr. Manthos Mavrommatis and OEB General Manager Mr. Michalis Antoniou, representing Cypriot entrepreneurs in the EESC.
