Cyprus’s employment increased by 2.0% and hours worked by 3.3% in the 4th quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with notable growth in wholesale, construction, and manufacturing sectors.
Employment in Cyprus for the 4th quarter of 2025 is estimated at 519,116 persons, including 466,265 employees and 52,851 self-employed individuals.
Compared to the same quarter in 2024, total employment increased by 2.0%. The sectors with the most significant percentage increases were wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE G), construction (NACE F), and manufacturing (NACE C).
Actual hours worked for the 4th quarter of 2025 are estimated at 244,170 thousand hours, representing a 3.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The sectors with the most notable percentage increases in hours worked were wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE G), construction (NACE F), and manufacturing (NACE C).
Methodological notes indicate data is based on the NACE Rev.2 classification and ESA 2010 methodology, using sources such as the Employment and Job Vacancies Survey, Labor Force Survey, Social Insurance Register, and the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus.
