Employment in the broad public sector in the fourth quarter of 2025

Total employment in the broad public sector reached 78,124 persons in Q4 2025, showing a 1.8% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024.

Total employment in the broad public sector in the fourth quarter of 2025 was 78,124 persons. Employment in General Government was 73,006, and in Publicly Owned Enterprises and Companies was 5,118.

In General Government, which includes the Government, Non-Profit Organisations, and Local Authorities, employment was 55,215, 11,107, and 6,225 persons respectively.

For the entire year 2025, employment in the broad public sector was 76,726 persons, up from 75,353 in 2024, representing a 1.8% increase. Specifically, employment in General Government increased by 2.4%, while employment in Government-Controlled Companies decreased by 5.8%.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, employment increased by 1,287 persons (1.7%). Increases were observed in Central Government (+0.8%), Local Authorities (+10.4%), and Publicly Owned Enterprises and Companies (+3.1%). Notably, employment in District Local Government Organisations increased by 48.4%.
