European statistics competition national award ceremony held at University of Cyprus

The award ceremony for the national phase of the European Statistics Competition 2025-2026 finalist teams was held today, 5 May 2026, at the University of Cyprus. The competition promotes statistical literacy and teamwork among secondary school students and is co-organised by the Statistical Service, the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the University of Cyprus, and the Cyprus Statistical Society.

This year, 562 students participated, forming 197 teams. The competition included two assignments: a qualifying test on statistical knowledge and interpretation, and a presentation of a statistical analysis based on a predefined dataset assessed by a jury.

The winners of the national phase earned the right to represent Cyprus in the European final held between April and May 2026. The organisers congratulated all participants for their high-quality submissions and interest in statistics.

The awarded teams are as follows:

• Category A: Upper Secondary

1st Prize: €200 per team member, one tablet for the tutor, and an honorary plaque for the school.
