The Department of Labour Inspection announces a European public consultation on banning PFAS chemicals in various industries, open until May 25, 2026. Stakeholders can submit comments via ECHA’s website.
The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) informs that the Department of Labour Inspection (TEE), responsible for occupational safety and health, has announced the launch of a European public consultation regarding the ban on the use of Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in chemical mixtures and articles.
Industries most affected by PFAS include food contact material production, textiles, leather goods, building materials, electronics, firefighting foams and clothing, food processing, and medical equipment.
The consultation focuses on the socio-economic impact of a potential ban and its effects on different economic sectors.
Businesses involved in manufacturing, importing, and distributing, as well as the general public, can submit comments or data until 25 May 2026 via the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website:

Following the consultation, a final discussion and vote on the restriction will take place at the European level.
Comments may address key issues, suggest solutions such as alternative substances, or request additional time for substitution.
