The preliminary fiscal results for January–February 2026 show a surplus of €594.3 million (1.5% of GDP), compared to €663.4 million in the same period of 2025, according to CYSTAT.
The preliminary fiscal results of the general government sector for January–February 2026, prepared by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT), indicate a surplus of €594.3 million, which is 1.5% of GDP. This compares to a surplus of €663.4 million (1.8% of GDP) recorded during the same period in 2025.
During this period, total revenue increased by €23.4 million (+0.9%) to €2,711.3 million, from €2,687.9 million in 2025. Revenue from taxes on income and wealth rose by €32.7 million (+4.0%) to €842.6 million. Social contributions increased by €17.6 million (+2.2%) to €835.1 million, and current transfers increased by €1.4 million (+3.3%) to €43.3 million.
Taxes on production and imports decreased by €12.8 million (-1.6%) to €802.7 million, with net VAT revenue increasing by €21.7 million (+3.9%) to €580.7 million. Property income decreased by €2.6 million (-19.5%) to €10.7 million. Revenue from the sale of goods and services decreased by €12.2 million (-6.6%) to €173.6 million, and capital transfers decreased by €0.7 million (-17.5%) to €3.3 million.
Total expenditure increased by €92.5 million (+4.6%) to €2,117.0 million, compared to €2,024.5 million in 2025. Current expenditure components such as intermediate consumption, compensation of employees, social benefits, and current transfers all increased. Capital account decreased by €11.0 million (-8.4%) to €119.5 million, with gross capital formation decreasing by €13.3 million (-13.5%) to €85.5 million.
Interest payable decreased slightly by €0.1 million (-0.1%) to €68.1 million, and subsidies decreased by €3.1 million to €6.8 million. The net lending/borrowing for the period was a surplus of €594.3 million, representing 1.5% of GDP.
