The GDP growth rate in real terms for the first quarter of 2026 is estimated at 3.0%, seasonally adjusted, mainly driven by wholesale, retail, information, communication, and financial sectors.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in real terms, seasonally adjusted, during the first quarter of 2026 is estimated at 3.0% compared to the same quarter of 2025.
This positive growth is mainly attributed to the sectors: “Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles,” “Information and Communication,” and “Financial and Insurance Activities.”
According to preliminary data, the GDP increased by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter, and by 3.0% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
The GDP flash estimate provides an early picture of the economy’s development, based on data available 45 days after the quarter’s end, using a methodology similar to the regular quarterly national accounts but with less input information.
Data sources include short-term indicators, administrative data, employment figures, and price indices. The estimate is produced in accordance with European standards (ESA 2010) and transmitted to Eurostat.
