The HICP measures changes over time in prices of goods and services purchased by households and tourists within the country, calculated according to EU harmonised methodology. The annual change compares the current month to the same month in the previous year.

Effective from January 2026, HICP products have been revised based on the 2023 Household Budget Survey. Pricing covers urban areas of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos, with weights of 40%, 30%, 18%, and 12%, respectively.

Prices of 850 items are recorded monthly, with some seasonal items priced weekly. Prices include taxes and discounts that are generally valid. Weights are based on household and tourist expenditure data, using EU regulations since 2012.

The base year for index calculation is 2025=100, starting January 2026. The classification used is ECOICOP ver.2 at the five-digit level.
