The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for February 2026 shows an annual rate of change of 0.94% compared to February 2025. The HICP increased by 0.94% over this period and decreased by 0.01% between January and February 2026.
Compared to February 2025, the categories with the largest positive changes were Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.4%) and Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.9%). The largest negative changes were observed in Clothing and Footwear (-6.2%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels (-3.5%).
Compared with January 2026, the categories with the largest changes were Clothing and Footwear (0.8%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels (-0.5%).
In terms of economic categories, Energy showed a decrease of 8.4% compared to February 2025 and a decrease of 0.9% compared to January 2026. Services increased by 4.2% compared to February 2025.
The index is based on prices collected in urban districts of Lefkosia, Larnaka, Lemesos, and Pafos, with weights according to population distribution. Price collection involves 850 goods and services, with weekly collection for seasonal products, meats, and fuels. The base year for the index is 2025=100, with the index calculated using the ECOICOP classification (version 2 from January 2026).
