The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 4.4% in July 2026 compared to July 2025, with a monthly increase of 0.7%. Key categories showed varied changes, influenced by EU methodology.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 4.4% in July 2026 compared with July 2025. The index also increased by 0.7% between June and July 2026. (Table 1)
The HICP for the Euro area for the last month is based on EUROSTAT’s flash estimate.
Categories with the largest positive changes compared to July 2025 include Restaurants and Accommodation Services (12%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas, and Other Fuels (7%). The largest negative changes were observed in Clothing and Footwear (-5.2%) and Information and Communication (-2.3%).
Compared with June 2026, the categories with the largest changes were Clothing and Footwear (-10.8%), Restaurants and Accommodation Services (5.5%), Transport (1.9%), and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas, and Other Fuels (1.7%).
The largest change among economic categories compared to July 2025 was in Energy (10.2%), while compared to June 2026, it was in Services (3.5%).
