The manufacturing sector increased by 0.6% compared to April 2025. Other sectors showing growth include electricity supply (+6.9%), mining and quarrying (+4.5%), and water supply and materials recovery (+4.4%).
Significant positive changes within manufacturing compared to April 2025 were observed in basic metals and fabricated metal products (+8.1%) and non-metallic mineral products (+6.7%). Negative changes were noted in textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-8.6%), furniture and machinery repair (-4.5%), and rubber and plastic products (-3.8%).
For the period January-April 2026, the most notable increases were in water collection, treatment, and supply (+11.2%), electricity supply (+7.3%), and basic metals manufacturing (+6.4%). Declines were recorded in machinery and transport equipment manufacturing (-5.1%), furniture and machinery repair (-5.0%), textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-4.8%), and materials recovery (-3.5%).
Data collection is conducted via telephone or email by the Statistical Service, covering enterprises with a production value over 2 million euros or 20 or more employees. The index uses 2021 as the base year, with a weighted average based on the value added of each sub-sector. The index is published in gross form at the national level and complies with EU regulations.
