The industrial production index rose by 3.7% in January 2026 compared to January 2025, reaching 109.5 units. Growth was observed in manufacturing, electricity, and water supply sectors, with a decline in mining and quarrying.
In January 2026, the Industrial Production Index reached 109.5 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 3.7% compared to January 2025.
The manufacturing sector increased by 1.5% compared to January 2025. The electricity supply sector grew by 18.6%, and the water supply and materials recovery sectors increased by 6.0%. A decrease of 16.1% was observed in mining and quarrying.
Within manufacturing, the most significant positive changes compared to January 2025 were in the manufacturing of wood and products of wood and cork (+4.9%), refined petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceutical products (+3.2%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (+3.2%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (+1.9%).
The most notable negative changes were in paper and paper products and printing (-2.0%) and other non-metallic mineral products (-0.9%).
The index is based on data collected from enterprises with a production value over 2 million Euros or 20 or more employees, and covers sectors B, C, D, and E of NACE Rev. 2, excluding sewerage and waste management activities.
Data is collected via telephone and email, and the index is compiled using 2021 as the base year. The index reflects the monthly changes in production relative to the average of 2021. The index is published in gross form at the national level and is also transmitted to Eurostat, including seasonally and working day adjusted data.
