Industrial production index increased by 4.7% in September 2025

The industrial production index rose by 4.7% in September 2025 compared to September 2024, with a year-to-date increase of 3.0%. The index reached 119.1 units (base 2021=100).

In September 2025, the Industrial Production Index reached 119.1 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 4.7% compared to September 2024. For the period January–September 2025, the index increased by 3.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The manufacturing sector registered a 4.7% increase compared to September 2024. Other sectors such as water supply and materials recovery (+5.6%), electricity supply (+5.3%), and mining and quarrying (+0.5%) also showed growth.

Significant positive changes within manufacturing included the production of other non-metallic mineral products (+23.7%), rubber and plastic products (+8.7%), and wood and cork products (+8.6%). Negative changes were observed in textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-11.0%) and refined petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products (-6.8%).

From January to September 2025, the most notable increases were in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (+9.9%), wood products (+8.0%), basic metals (+7.3%), and water collection, treatment, and supply (+7.1%). The largest decreases were in paper and paper products and printing (-11.9%) and textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (-6.3%).

Data collection is conducted via telephone or email by the Statistical Service, covering enterprises with production value over 2 million Euros or 20 or more employees. The index is compiled using 2021 as the base year, with weights based on the value added of each subsector. The index follows EU Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 and is published in its gross form at the national level. More information is available on the CYSTAT portal and database.
