Industrial turnover index increased by 3.5% in May 2026

The industrial turnover index rose by 3.5% in May 2026 compared to May 2025, reaching 148.0 units. The index increased by 3.4% for January–May 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.

In May 2026, the industrial turnover index reached 148.0 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 3.5% compared to May 2025. For the period January–May 2026, the index increased by 3.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In manufacturing, the index reached 151.4 units, an increase of 2.6% compared to May 2025. Significant increases were observed in the sectors of water supply and materials recovery (+13.8%), electricity supply (+6.1%), and mining and quarrying (+2.1%).

Detailed data by sector shows the index for mining and quarrying at 183.2, manufacturing at 151.4, and electricity supply at 131.2. The index also covers various subsectors, with notable increases in manufacture of basic metals (+25%) and electronic and optical products (+27%).

The index is compiled based on data collected from enterprises with a turnover of €2 million or more or with 20 or more employees, and follows EU regulation (EU) 2019/2152. It is transmitted monthly to Eurostat and is based on the 2021 average as the base year.
