Provisional data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, total hourly labour costs rose by 3.7% compared to the same quarter in 2025. Wages and non-wage costs increased by 3.8% and 3.3%, respectively.
Based on provisional data, the labour cost index for the first quarter of 2026 indicates a 3.7% increase in total hourly labour costs compared to the same quarter in 2025.
The main components, wages and salaries per hour worked and non-wage costs per hour worked, increased by 3.8% and 3.3%, respectively, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Seasonally adjusted figures show a 1.1% increase in total labour costs and wages and salaries per hour compared to the previous quarter. Non-wage costs increased by 1.5% seasonally adjusted.
Data are provisional from the first quarter of 2025 onwards. The index covers all economic activities except agriculture, forestry, fishing, household activities as employers, and extraterritorial organizations. It is compiled as a chain-linked Laspeyres cost index, with base year 2020 (index 100).
