On July 6, 2026, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Michalis Damianos, visited industrial zones in Deryneia and Frenaros following an OEB initiative to engage with local businesses and authorities.
On July 6, 2026, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Michalis Damianos, toured the Deryneia Industrial Zone, the Mixed Industrial Zone of Category B, and the Frenaros Industrial Area. The visit was at the invitation of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB).
The purpose of the tour was to facilitate direct contact with regional industrial activity and to better understand the issues facing businesses. The Minister visited industrial facilities and participated in a broad meeting with representatives including the President and members of the OEB Industry Committee, the Mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia, Deputy Mayors of Deryneia and Frenaros, the Vice President of EOA Famagusta, senior executives of OEB and CCCI, the President of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.
During the meeting, issues affecting the operation, daily life, and development prospects of businesses in the region were discussed. It was noted that the Ministry of Energy, Environment and Business (EE&B) strives to promote solutions and regulations relevant to business concerns, although many issues also fall under the responsibilities of other ministries and government agencies.
OEB considers the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry a strategic partner in strengthening entrepreneurship and industrial development in Cyprus. Such visits promote direct dialogue with businesses and local authorities and aid in addressing industry challenges.
