The Statistical Service reports a 13.2% rise in total motor vehicle registrations in Cyprus for January–June 2026, with notable increases in passenger cars, goods vehicles, and motor coaches compared to the same period in 2025.
The Statistical Service announced the publication of the report titled “Registration of Motor Vehicles” for the period January–June 2026.
In June 2026, total motor vehicle registrations numbered 5,624, a 13.8% increase compared to 4,942 in June 2025. Passenger saloon cars registered a 14.8% rise to 4,338 from 3,780 in June 2025.
For January–June 2026, total registrations increased by 13.2% to 29,367 from 25,954 in the same period of 2025. Passenger saloon cars increased to 22,597 from 20,004, a 13.0% rise, with 32.1% being new and 67.9% used cars. Rental cars decreased by 11.8% to 2,487.
The share of petrol-powered passenger cars decreased to 35.2% from 43.6%, while diesel-powered cars decreased slightly to 8.2% from 8.6%. Electric cars increased slightly to 4.9%, and hybrid cars rose from 43.0% to 51.7%.
Motor coaches and buses increased to 111 from 78. Registrations of goods conveyance vehicles rose by 14.9% to 3,510, including light goods vehicles, road tractors, heavy goods vehicles, and rental vehicles, which increased by 12.9%, 18.4%, 22.3%, and 31.9%, respectively.
Mopeds under 50cc decreased to 77 from 112. Mechanised cycles over 50cc increased by 13.4% to 2,681. Other vehicle categories also saw increases or decreases as detailed in the report.
