The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) reports on Cyprus’s services sector growth in 2025, tourism records, health developments, digital transformation efforts, and shipping sector resilience ahead of the April 28, 2026 AGM.
The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, attended by the President of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides. The meeting will address developments in the services sector during 2025.
In 2025, the services sector showed significant growth, contributing to Cyprus’s economic resilience. Key increases included accommodation and food services (+9.5%), administrative and support activities (+7.4%), professional, scientific, and technical activities (+4.6%), information and communication (+4.3%), transport and storage (+2.8%), and real estate management (+0.4%).
Tourism in Cyprus reached record levels in 2025, with total arrivals of 4,534,073, a 12.2% increase from 2024. December 2025 saw an 18.0% rise in arrivals compared to December 2024, with main source markets being Israel (19.1%), the UK (19.0%), Poland (11.3%), Germany (7.4%), and Greece (7.3%). Tourism revenues from January to November 2025 exceeded €3.6 billion, reflecting sector strength and positive outlook.
The health sector continued to develop, with focus on expenditure control, resource management, and digital health innovations. OEB emphasized the importance of health system sustainability, staff shortages, modernization, and policy support for a resilient health system as a strategic economic pillar.
OEB actively supported digital transformation initiatives in 2025, including participation in the DiGiNN Cyprus Digital Innovation Hub, establishing a Digital Transformation and Innovation Committee, supporting industry associations, and organizing international market missions and seminars on artificial intelligence. These efforts aim to enhance business competitiveness and innovation.
Cypriot shipping maintained its strong position in 2025, contributing approximately 7% to GDP. The sector expanded activities such as fuel supply, maritime technology, legal and advisory services, and increased vessel registry tonnage by nearly 20%, maintaining Cyprus among the top global and EU shipping flags.
Throughout 2025, OEB organized conferences, workshops, and exhibitions to support service sector businesses, collaborated with government bodies on sponsorship plans, and awarded companies through the Cyprus Innovation Award. These initiatives underscore the sector’s vital role in the economy.
