The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has expressed deep disappointment and concern regarding the postponement of the examination by the Parliamentary Committee on Health of two legislative amendments submitted by the Minister of Health. These amendments aim to facilitate the employment of nurses from third countries.
OEB highlights that the health system is facing severe shortages of nursing staff, and the inability to implement decisions to mitigate this problem causes significant dissatisfaction among health service providers.
The federation considers it particularly worrying that, instead of the government bill being examined and approved by Parliament, trade union pressures have taken precedence over the fundamental right of patients to access quality care and the smooth operation of the health system.
This development could potentially lead to restrictions on health services or even the suspension of clinics and hospitals, as OEB has previously warned.
In response, OEB will convene an immediate broad meeting with the collective bodies of the health sector affected by nursing shortages to assess the situation and decide on next steps and measures. The organization emphasizes that everyone must now assume their responsibilities.
