OEB states that Cyprus remains a safe and reliable destination for international investments, business activity, and quality tourism.
Maintaining economic stability, security, and smooth functioning is a top priority and a collective responsibility.
The Cypriot economy has demonstrated resilience in adverse conditions, proving strong institutionally and operationally despite regional and international crises.
Sectors related to tourism and export activities to Gulf countries and the Middle East, including pharmaceuticals, face challenges which will be addressed prudently and efficiently.
Cyprus businesses continue to operate responsibly, sending a message of stability for the economy and the country.
OEB appeals to Cypriots to help clarify the true security situation and eliminate false impressions created internationally during the initial days of the crisis.
Recommendations include lowering the tone in public debate, focusing on everyday issues and priorities, and returning to normality as soon as possible.
OEB also calls for the immediate resumption of postponed meetings, events, and activities of EU bodies in Cyprus, based on an overestimated risk and exaggerated promotion during the crisis.
This request will be personally presented by OEB President Giorgos Pantelidis in a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa in Brussels on March 18.
OEB will continue monitoring regional developments and contributing to public debate to ensure economic stability, protect business activity, and promote sustainable development in Cyprus.
