The Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), in collaboration with the Cyprus Hydrogen Association, is actively involved in developing green hydrogen as a renewable energy source. The effort is part of the European project TRIERES, supported by the European Union through the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

TRIERES is the first co-funded project for developing a “Hydrogen Valley,” with Cyprus participating through OEB. The project focuses on creating a Green Hydrogen Valley in Greece, with a production capacity of 2,410 tons of hydrogen annually. The consortium includes businesses, academic and research institutions, public organizations, and local governments.

OEB aims to transfer the know-how, experience, and best practices from the development of the Hydrogen Valley in Greece to Cyprus. The goal is to adapt this experience to Cyprus’s conditions and support hydrogen applications that meet the needs of the Cypriot economy.

On September 22, 2026, OEB hosted the opening event of the TRIERES Annual Meeting at the Thalassa Museum in Ayia Napa. The event was attended by the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Michalis Damianos, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, and the President of the Cyprus Hydrogen Association, Mr. Makis Keetis. Representatives from project partners, businesses, and hydrogen sector organizations also participated.

OEB will continue to support the development of the hydrogen economy in Cyprus by promoting initiatives that facilitate energy transition and create new investment and innovation opportunities for Cypriot businesses.
