The turnover value of retail trade increased by 3.3% and volume by 4.1% in February 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, based on preliminary data.
The Turnover Index of Retail Trade, except of Motor Vehicles, for February 2026 shows an increase of 3.3% in turnover value and 4.1% in turnover volume compared to February 2025.
The index covers activities in division 47 of the EU’s NACE Rev. 2 classification and is based on data collected monthly via telephone or email by the Statistical Service.
The index uses 2021 as the base year, with an average value of 100.0. The value index is calculated at current prices, while the volume index is deflated using the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The index is a weighted average of various retail activities, with weights derived from the 2021 wholesale and retail trade survey. It follows EU regulation (EU) 2019/2152 and is transmitted monthly to Eurostat.
