The Turnover Index of Retail Trade, excluding motor vehicles, for June 2026 shows an increase of 8.3% in value compared to June 2025 (Table 1). The volume index increased by 5.5% in the same period (Table 2).
The data covers retail activities classified under division 47 of the EU’s NACE Rev. 2 classification. The index uses 2021 as the base year, with an index value of 100 representing average monthly turnover in 2021.
The turnover value index is calculated at current prices, while the volume index is derived by deflating the value index using the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The indices are weighted averages based on the share of each retail activity in total sector turnover, as per the 2021 survey results.
Data collection is conducted monthly via telephone or email. The index is transmitted to Eurostat and published at the national level in its gross form. Additional methodological details and data are available on the CYSTAT portal and database.
