The Turnover Index of Retail Trade, except of Motor Vehicles, for September 2025 shows an increase of 6.3% in value and 9.0% in volume compared to September 2024.

The index covers activities in division 47 of the EU’s NACE Rev. 2 classification, measuring short-term developments in retail trade.

The data is collected monthly via telephone or email by the Statistical Service and is based on 2021 as the base year, with an index value of 100 representing the average monthly turnover of 2021.

The Turnover Value Index is calculated at current prices, while the Volume Index is derived by deflating the Value Index using the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The index is a weighted average of various retail activities, with weights based on the 2021 share of each activity in total retail turnover. It is transmitted monthly to Eurostat and published at the national level in its gross form. More information is available on the CYSTAT portal and online databases.
