The turnover value increased by 11.0% and volume by 8.9% in July 2026 compared to the previous year, indicating growth in retail trade activities.
The Turnover Index of Retail Trade, except of Motor Vehicles, for July 2026 shows an increase of 11.0% in value compared to July 2025. The volume index increased by 8.9% over the same period.
The index covers activities in division 47 of the EU’s NACE Rev. 2 classification, measuring short-term developments in retail trade.
Data is collected monthly via telephone or email by the Statistical Service and compiled using 2021 as the base year (index=100). The value index is at current prices, while the volume index is deflated using the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The index is a weighted average based on the share of each activity in total retail trade turnover, derived from the 2021 survey results. It follows EU Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 and is transmitted monthly to Eurostat. The published data is in gross form at the national level.
