In the first quarter of 2026, road freight transport in Cyprus increased by 2.3%, with freight from and to Cyprus rising by 9.3%, according to CYSTAT data.
The Statistical Service announced the release of road freight transport figures for the first quarter of 2026.
During January–March 2026, the total weight of goods transported by road in Cyprus increased by 2.3% compared to the same period in 2025. The weight of freight transported from and to Cyprus increased by 9.3%.
In terms of thousand tonnes, transport within Cyprus was 11.13 thousand tonnes in 2026, up from 10.88 thousand tonnes in 2025. Freight from and to Cyprus was 9.3 thousand tonnes in 2026, compared to 10.11 thousand tonnes in 2025.
In million tonne-kilometres, transport within Cyprus decreased by 4.2%, from 270.8 million in 2025 to 259.3 million in 2026. Freight from and to Cyprus decreased by 24.3%, from 10.37 million tonne-kilometres in 2025 to 7.8 million in 2026.
The data covers vehicles registered in Cyprus with load capacities over 3 tonnes, collected via telephone interviews for national carriage and directly from companies for international carriage. The data are transmitted to Eurostat according to Regulation (EU) No 70/2012.
