In July 2026, the total number of state employees was 53,747, an increase of 300 employees (0.6%) compared to July 2025.
Employment in the Civil Service decreased by 1.0%, while employment in the Educational Service increased by 2.6%, and in the Security Forces by 0.7%.
Compared to July 2025, the largest increase was among employees with contracts of indefinite duration (1.7%), and a minor decrease was observed in hourly paid workers (-0.1%).
Within the categories, the largest percentage increase was for employees with indefinite contracts in the Educational Service (25.7%), and the largest decrease was for employees with definite contracts in the Security Forces (-99.6%), mainly due to contract non-renewals from August 2025 onwards.
From January to July 2026, the average total number of state employees increased by 0.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
