The Statistical Service of Cyprus announced the publication of the 2022 Supply, Use and Input-Output tables, including revised data for 2018-2021, with total supply balanced at €96.658,5 million.
The Statistical Service of Cyprus has announced the publication of the Supply, Use and Input-Output (SUIOT) tables for the year 2022. The data are provided in current prices and in previous year prices. It is noted that data for the years 2018-2021 have been revised.
For 2022, total supply and use at purchasers’ prices are balanced at €96,658.5 million. Business services account for 48.4% of total supply, followed by manufacturing products at 25.1%, and distribution & transport services at 10.5%. Other services contribute 8.4%, construction works 6.2%, and agriculture, forestry & fishing products 1.4%.
In the supply table, total domestic production at basic prices is €64,381.7 million, imports are €28,932.0 million, and net taxes on products amount to €3,344.8 million. Domestic production accounts for 66.6% of total supply, imports 29.9%, and net taxes 3.5%. Imports constitute a significant share (47.8%) of manufacturing products supply. Net taxes are notably higher in construction works (9.1%) and manufacturing products (7.6%).
The use table shows total intermediate consumption of €38,081.2 million, final consumption at €23,965.8 million, gross capital formation at €6,105.5 million, and exports totaling €28,506.1 million. Intermediate consumption represents 39.4% of total use, with exports at 29.5%, final consumption at 24.8%, and gross capital formation at 6.3%. The largest share of use for agriculture, forestry, and fishing products is intermediate consumption (51.4%), while final consumption dominates for other services (88.1%). Construction works are mainly used as gross capital formation (55.5%), and distribution & transport services are primarily exported (49.0%).
Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices is calculated by subtracting intermediate consumption from domestic production. To obtain GDP at market prices, taxes less subsidies on products are added, resulting in a GDP of €29,645.4 million.
The tables are part of the National Accounts system, covering the entire economy and recorded according to European standards.
