Tourist arrivals and resident returns in Cyprus for March 2026

In March 2026, Cyprus saw a 30.7% decrease in tourist arrivals and an 8.8% decline in resident returns compared to the previous year. Main source markets and travel purposes are detailed.

In March 2026, tourist arrivals in Cyprus totaled 139,198, representing a decrease of 30.7% compared to March 2025, when arrivals were 200,736. For the period of January to March 2026, total arrivals were 407,339, down 8.8% from 446,596 in the same period of 2025.

The main source of tourists in March 2026 was the United Kingdom, accounting for 32.9% (45,763) of total arrivals, followed by Poland with 12.6% (17,604), Germany with 10.8% (14,999), and Greece with 6.5% (9,009).

In March 2026, 65.7% of tourists traveled for holidays, 19.8% visited friends and relatives, and 14.3% traveled for business. In March 2025, the respective percentages were 69.4%, 15.7%, and 14.7%.

Resident returns from abroad totaled 133,034 in March 2026, a decrease of 8.8% from 145,940 in March 2025. The main countries of return were Greece with 32.4% (43,068), the United Kingdom with 9.9% (13,131), Italy with 4.7% (6,304), and Germany with 4.5% (5,961).

The primary purpose of travel for residents returning was holidays (72.5%), followed by business (22.6%), studies (3.9%), and other reasons (1.0%).

Data are collected from passenger surveys at Larnaka and Pafos airports, as well as from administrative sources. The information covers travelers passing through passport control in the government-controlled areas of Cyprus.
