Tourist arrivals and returns of residents of Cyprus in April 2026

In April 2026, tourist arrivals decreased by 27.6% to 303,031, while resident returns declined by 0.3% to 164,357. Main source countries and travel purposes are detailed in the report.

In April 2026, the number of tourist arrivals in Cyprus was 303,031, representing a decrease of 27.6% compared to April 2025, when arrivals totaled 418,730. For the period January–April 2026, arrivals totaled 710,370, down 17.9% from 865,326 in the same period of 2025.

The main source countries for April 2026 were the United Kingdom with 39.2% (118,742), Poland with 8.4%, Germany with 8.0%, Israel with 5.3%, and Greece with 4.7%.

In April 2026, 73.0% of tourists traveled for holidays, 17.7% visited friends and relatives, and 9.2% traveled for business. In April 2025, the respective percentages were 80.3%, 12.7%, and 6.9%.

Resident returns from abroad totaled 164,357 in April 2026, a decrease of 0.3% from 164,844 in April 2025. The main countries of return were Greece (32.1%), the United Kingdom (6.8%), Italy (6.0%), and Romania (4.2%).

The primary purpose of travel for residents was holidays (74.7%), followed by business (17.5%), studies (6.8%), and other reasons (1.0%).

Data are collected from passenger surveys at Larnaka and Pafos airports and ports, covering all travelers passing through passport control in the government-controlled areas of Cyprus.
